The Signature Dress sewing pattern is one of the most popular sewing patterns in my collection. This mini dress sewing pattern has a high neckline, cap sleeves, and an A-line silhouette. While many sewists use the pattern as it is, I’ve been surprised by how many of my customers have created incredible variations by modifying it. It’s truly surprising how many unique designs can come from just one sewing pattern!

If you're looking for a modern yet timeless dress sewing pattern, this one might be perfect!

Main Fabric: Choose medium-weight fabrics that hold their shape, with or without stretch.
Natural fibers such as wool, linen, medium-weight silks, cotton, and cotton blends are highly recommended. Experienced sewists may also use medium-weight polyester, but keep in mind that polyester fabrics are less responsive to steam shaping.

Recommended fabric types include medium-weight satin, double crepe, denim, twill, and gabardine. The ideal fabric density for this dress is 200–300 g/m².

Lining Fabric: For the lining, select lightweight materials with or without stretch. If your main fabric has stretch, ensure the lining fabric has at least the same amount of stretch. Suggested fabric types include satin, crepe de chine, or Bemberg rayon.

The dress in the photo is made from:
Fabric type: Twill
Composition: 100% Polyester
Density: 245 g/m²
The fabric is fully fused with woven interfacing to enhance structure—this step is optional but recommended for a polished finish.
