The Dream Dress is a PDF sewing pattern for a corset dress with a lined boned bodice, an asymmetric dropped waist, and a floor-length gathered skirt. I made this pattern with a very defined silhouette in mind. The bodice is fully lined and includes boning for structure and support. The asymmetric corset hem gives the dress a more modern look, while the gathered skirt softens the silhouette.

The asymmetrical hemline changes the whole look and makes it feel more modern than a classic corset dress.

The pattern includes boning, lining, and an invisible zipper. I also made very detailed sewing instructions for this dress, as well as a video showing how to close the hemline. But, I would still recommend it for sewists with some sewing experience.

If you are looking for a corset dress sewing pattern, a formal dress sewing pattern, or a dress sewing pattern for prom, eveningwear, or other special occasions, I made this one for exactly that.

Only choose a smaller size if you want a very tight silhouette.

Main Fabric, Corset: Choose medium-weight woven fabrics with no stretch. Ideal options include duchesse satin, brocade, mikado, taffeta, or jacquard.

Main Fbric, Skirt: Choose a fabric with good drape or a fabric that creates the look you want for the skirt. Ideal options include georgette, chiffon, satin, or other similar fabrics. You can also use the same fabric as the corset, as long as it is not too stiff for the skirt.

Recommended fabric weight, Corset: approx. 200 - 350 g/m² (medium to heavy weight). Recommended fabric weight, Skirt: approx. 100 - 200 g/m² (light to medium weight).

Fabric type: Duchesse satin.
Composition: 100% polyester.
Weight: 195g/m².
Skirt
Fabric type: Georgette.
Composition: 100% polyester.
Weight: 130g/m².

Lining Fabric: Choose a strong, stable woven fabric with no stretch. Because the lining acts as the base of the corset, it should hold its shape well and should not be a typical lightweight lining fabric. The lining should also not be thicker than the main fabric. Suitable options include duchesse satin, cotton poplin, cotton sateen or similar woven fabrics.

Recommended fabric weight, Lining: approx. 150 - 300 g/m² (medium to heavy weight).
