One of my most popular sewing patterns is this hourglass-shaped dress! When I made this sewing pattern, I wanted to simplify complex corset-making techniques into a design that is easy to sew but keeps the same structured look. It took many tries and adjustments, but in the end, it turned out exactly as I imagined.

This strapless corset dress sewing pattern has a stiff, boned bodice, a cinched waist, and a flared, bell-shaped mini skirt, creating an hourglass silhouette. The dress is fully lined, with the lining acting as a built-in corset for structure and support.

This is the perfect sewing pattern if you're looking to make a wedding gown, a little black dress, or even a wedding guest dress!

Bust ease: 0 cm
Waist ease: 0 cm
Hip ease: 25 cm

The model is 163 cm / 5'4" tall with measurements:
Bust 85 cm / 33.5"
Waist 68 cm 26.8"
Hips 94 cm 37"
and is wearing a size EU36 / US 06.

Main Fabric: Medium-weight fabrics that are structured and hold their shape well are recommended for this corset dress pattern. Ideal options include structured fabric types such as duchesse satin, brocade, mikado, or suiting fabrics, as well as medium-weight cotton fabrics. Choose fabrics with no stretch for the best results.

Density: The ideal fabric density for this dress should range between 250–400 g/m² (medium to heavy weight).

Lining: For the lining, select fabrics that are smooth, breathable, and lightweight to ensure comfort. Recommended options include silk habotai, lightweight cotton voile, rayon lining fabrics, or polyester linings.
